Carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP)
Carbon fibre reinforced plastic, also colloquially referred to as carbon, is a composite material that is an essential component in many areas of technology nowadays. It consists of carbon fibres embedded in a plastic matrix. This matrix, mostly epoxy resin, serves to connect the fibres. CFRP thus falls into the group of composites. Its advantages include, in particular, an excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio.
