Membrane

The membrane acts as a separating layer in the fuel cell. It is used as a barrier layer to separate the gases in the cathode and cathode chambers of the fuel cell. In addition, the membrane acts as an electrolyte (ion exchanger) in the fuel cell.

Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA)

The MEA, is assembled from the polymer membrane and two gas diffusion electrodes (anodes and cathodes), which together perform the electrochemical process to extract energy from the fuel.
