Sintering

Sintering is a process step in the powder metallurgy manufacturing process of components. The part, the so-called “green body”, which is mostly manufactured through pressing and has only limited dimensional stability, gets its strength through heat treatment at a temperature below the melting point of its primary component. This is done by connecting the powder particles in the form of surface diffusion between the powder particles.
