Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM)

PEM is the acronym for "polymer electrolyte membrane", which is also known as a proton exchange membrane. Both terms are used for fuel cells that contain a solid polymer membrane layer that serves as an electrolyte to allow protons to pass between the anode and cathode. Protons are transported from the anode to the cathode in a temperature range of 60-100 °C.
